atelier klangforschung der Universität Würzburg Klangforschung in Musik I

atelier klangforschung at the University of Würzburg is conceived as a place where art and science meet. Linked to the professorship of contemporary music at Würzburgs Institute for Musicology the atelier offers space for academic projects while also hosting concerts, readings, seminars, workshops, cooperating with institutions and artists. The projects involve research into sound concepts, spatiality of sound, gesture, musical acoustics, mediality of sound and music reception, musical acting with sound. The atelier klangforschung is housed in Villa 03 of the former US Leighton Barracks, its directors are Elena Ungeheuer and Oliver Wiener. Current artist in residence is Gerriet K. Sharma. The periodical "Klangforschung in Musik" is published twice a year. The May issue is dedicated to the opening and the conception of the atelier. In the November issue Pascal Decroupet and Elena Ungeheuer will present an analytical compendium of the poetics thinking and composing sound since Helmholtz.
