Iankoshvili

Natela Iankoshvili (1918–2007) was the foremost Georgian artist of the 20th century. Her works are without exception representational and are marked by a singular luminosity and tonal intensity. Vivid forms artfully delineated with just a few broad brushstrokes against a black ground conjoin to create elegant, expressive portraits and vibrantly colored landscapes. A remote kinship can be discerned with the art of Alexej von Jawlensky and Marianne von Werefkin, as well as with works by El Greco, Paul Cézanne and Henri Matisse. Iankoshvili studied at the Art Academy in Tiflis. She was awarded the Shota Rustaveli Prize, the highest artistic distinction of Georgia. The catalog presents a representative selection of Iankoshvili's works. Link to Exhibition: http://www.galeriekornfeld.com/category/ausstellungen-aktuell/
