The catalog for the exhibition Private Passions. Sammeln in Mannheim presents a unique glimpse of formerly hidden treasures of classical Modernism and postwar art. Mannheim looks back on a long tradition of art appreciation and collecting. With months of detective work, curator Inge Herold was able to uncover rare gems from anonymous private collections for presentation in the show at the Kunsthalle Mannheim. The result is an exciting excursion through the history of art from the 20th century to the present: from Symbolism and Impressionism, through Expressionism and the New Objectivity, all the way to Art Informel and Nouveau Realisme.
