Young artist Mircea Cantor draws on a wide range of artistic media in his work, such as video, photo, objects and installations, using these as a means of expression for examining sociopolitical and economic themes. In pieces created especially for an exhibition at Kunsthaus Zurich, including the film Tracking Happiness, the artist scrutinizes our digital information society. What fascinates Cantor, and what he uncovers in a subtle manner, is the fact that, despite the increasingly thorough registration of all our activities, the resulting digitized data leaves behind few lasting traces. Mircea Cantor was born in 1977 in Romania and lives and works today in Paris. His work has been shown in a number of solo exhibitions, including at the Camden Arts Centre in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
