Museum Tinguely Spielobjekte Die Kunst der Möglichkeiten

Spielobjekte – Die Kunst der Möglichkeiten (Ludic Objects – The Art of Possibilities) is an exhibition at the Museum Tinguely that showcases the diversity and history of variable art with around 100 exhibits by 20th century artists. The artworks were originally conceptualized as mobile variable objects. During guided tours, museum visitors are allowed to manipulate the artworks to change their appearance and therefore play an active part in shaping their composition. The transformable "interactive object", also described as a "variation object" or "participation object", reached its artistic zenith at the end of the 1960s, when it particularly featured amongst the movements of concrete constructivism and kinetic art. This richly illustrated three-volume publication, which includes interviews with three contemporary artists as well as an anthology with numerous historical texts by the artists, functions as an "interactive object " itself – readers can rearrange the color composition of the cover by adjusting the slipcase. Artists: Yaacov Agam, Carmelo Arden Quin, Josef Albers, Hans Arp, Mary Bauermeister, Alberto Biasi, Max Bill, Angelo Bozzola, Edy Brunner, Peer Clahsen, Gianni Colombo, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Gabriele De Vecchi, Hans Erni, Karl Gerstner, Rolf Glasmeier, Gerhard von Graevenitz, gruppo T, gruppo n, Dieter Hacker, Axel Heibel, Jeppe Hein, Marie-Luise Heller, Reiner Kallhardt, Pierre Keller, Gyula Kosice, Yayoi Kusama, Berto Lardera, Julio Le Parc, Le Corbusier, François Morellet, Bruno Munari, Jo Niemeyer, Charlotte Posenenske, Rolf Rappaz, Dieter Roth, Joël Stein, Sultan, Paul Talman, William Turnbull, Timm Ulrichs, Grazia Varisco, Victor Vasarely, Mary Vieira, Hugo Weber, Yvaral
