Türkische Wirklichkeiten Positionen der zeitgenössischen Fotografie aus der Türkei

Turkish Realities presents for the first time a representative cross-section of contemporary Turkish photography. Photographers' main inspiration today tends to come from the bipolar opposites in Turkish society, which are mirrored in the situation of Istanbul itself. This unique metropolis has embodied antagonistic tendencies for hundreds of years: Asia and Europe, tradition and modernism, Islam and Christianity. It's shaped by a constant state of everyday, brutal confrontation between everchanging elements. Between these two antipodes there are varied positions, which make up a part of the "Turkish reality." Selected artists are Merih Akoğul, Murat Germen, Aksel Zeydan Göz, Şinasi Güneş, Zeki Faik İzer, Hüseyin Karakaya, Korhan Karaoysal, Burçak Kaygun, İlker Maga, Yıldız Moran, Ferhat Özgür, Ahmet Polat, Özlem Sulak, Nil Yalter and Pınar Yolaçan.
