Zoë Kronberger Hard Drive

The works of artist Zoë Kronberger are inspired by the landscapes that surround her. Figures, such as that of a lone skier, topographical contours or city skylines are reduced to simple shapes and lines and synthesized to create a kind of encyclopedic essence. The artist's thoughts and ideas evolve in a slow process of careful analysis as she tries to penetrate down to the essential being of things. Influenced by structures from music and design, Kronberger weaves elements from these areas into her pictures, letting the processes meld completely until they are no longer discrete. The result is a feeling of both tension and balance in a single stroke. This is the first monograph presenting Kronberger's œuvre, including introductory texts, an interview and autobiographical notes. Zoë Kronberger (b. 1952 in Chester, UK) studied graphic design at Manchester College of Art and Design. From 1970 onwards she worked successfully as a pianist and composer for film and television. She has been devoting her time to painting since the mid-1990s. Her works have been shown in solo exhibitions in France, Austria and Switzerland.
